Aconitum Napellus (Monkshood)

 This plant has a small napiform root, and simple, straight, erect stems, about five feet high.  The leaves are alternate, petioled, dark-green above, paler beneath.  The flowers are large, deep bluish-purple, sometimes white, and hairy; fruit a capsule.
